It was brilliant to have Brecht Vandepoele join our team for a short while. His fresh perspective on our designs, combined with his great ideas and youthful enthusiasm, has given us insights and results that we can build on. Thank you, Brecht, for your excellent work!

This was his experience:

Last semester, I undertook an internship at Noah Water Solutions as part of my Industrial Engineering degree, specialising in Industrial Design, at Ghent University’s Kortrijk Campus, an environment in which I have grown significantly both technically and in terms of subject knowledge.

During this placement, I worked on the development and elaboration of a modular concept for water and wastewater applications. This ranged from early concept sketches and CAD models to the critical evaluation of design choices, functionality and manufacturability. It was a process in which design decisions were always informed by performance, space utilisation and realistic constraints.

What made this placement particularly valuable to me was the way ideas are approached here: openly discussed, tested and refined. This approach not only gave me greater insight into the design process, but also into how engineering and design reinforce each other in practice.

A sincere thank you to Dries Parmentier for the open, clear and honest communication, and to Bahram Barati for the excellent collaboration and pleasant working atmosphere. I am also grateful for the trust and opportunities I was given at NOAH Water Solutions.

I look back on this period with a sense of fulfilment and take a wealth of insights with me as I continue my Master’s programme and design journey.
