Despite its advanced technology, an electrochemical sanitation system can be assembled without the need for advanced technical knowledge or skills. This is achieved by housing the most technical components in easily replaceable and shippable cartridges. This design enables local workshops to handle sales and manufacturing, generating income and business opportunities for the local population. Furthermore, there is no need to invest in expensive hydrocleaners, used in traditional pit latrine or septic tank cleaning. Instead, the dry sludge collected through electrochemical sanitation can be easily put in small bags and fed into anaerobic biodigesters to return biogas towards the local community.
